We all just want to be happy. We also have the ability to find our own happiness, as well as our capacity for love and compassion. I believe that everyone has the ability to lead a happy and fulfilling life. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that mental, physical, and emotional well-being are integral to overall health. Therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this balance.
Contemplative Psychotherapy blends Western psychology and therapy with Buddhist psychology and practices . Contemplative psychotherapy as practiced in the United States emerged in the 1970’s. It has been primarily practiced as a therapeutic approach among psychotherapists who also follow a Buddhist path.
I start with the assumption that we are basically good, wise, and compassionate beings regardless of our history, experience, or problems. In Buddhism this is referred to as your fundamental goodness. My approach is grounded in the practices of meditation and mindfulness, as well as practices such as loving kindness.
